What to Pack for Your First Camper Trip

A practical checklist of what to bring when planning your trip.

What to Pack for Your First Camper Trip

Your first camper trip is an exciting experience, but a little preparation can make the journey much easier and more enjoyable.

Documents and essentials

Check which driving licence is required for your chosen camper and remember to bring the ID document required when collecting the vehicle.

It is also worth keeping your booking confirmation, insurance details and any important travel documents easily accessible during the trip.

Personal essentials

  • Clothing suitable for the weather conditions along your route.
  • A basic travel first aid kit.
  • Chargers and a power bank for longer periods without access to electricity.
  • Comfortable footwear for exploring campsites, towns and nature.
  • Personal toiletries and any medication you may need.

Planning your route

Plan your overnight stops in advance, especially during the high season, but leave some room for spontaneous detours.

That freedom to change plans, discover new places and stay somewhere a little longer is one of the best parts of travelling by camper.

Before returning the camper

Before returning the vehicle, check the rental conditions and make sure the camper is left in the required condition.

This may include:

  • removing personal belongings and rubbish,
  • cleaning the interior,
  • emptying the toilet and wastewater tanks,
  • returning the camper with the required fuel level.

A few minutes of preparation at the end of your journey can make the return process quick and straightforward.
